OCARC FD SITE 2005

This year the OCARC held Field Day at Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base in search of quieter EMI conditions. Here is a view of the main gate to the Los Alamitos JFTB base.

Field Day actually begins about a week before the event as inspection and repairs are made to some of club equipment. Here the 15M and 20M mono-bander beams are inspected and repaired at the QTH of Ken-W6HHC.

Kenan-N6CCE has volunteered to store OCARC towers and push-up masts in his storage unit. Here Kenan pushes one of the club's four military push-up masts (donated by Frank WA6VKZ) into the pick-up truck of Bud-WA6VPP..

The week-end before Field Day, (L-to-R) Bud-WA6VPP, Kenan-N6CCE, and Bob-KD6VDP move the clubs equipment to the QTH of N6CCE to allow some set-up experience on the newly donated 40-foot push-up masts. .

The OCARC FD Chairman for 2005 was Willie-N8WP.  Willie was there early on Friday afternoon for early FD set-up and could be found "everywhere" dispite recovering from a broken knee-cap. Willie is an active member of the Calif Office- of-Emegency-Services (OES) and was responsible for helping OCARC to obtain use of Los Alamitos JFTB FD site.

On the Friday afternoon before Field Day, the first antenna to go up was the 5-element 15M beam.  L-R are Mike-WK6O, Bob-WB6IXN, Chris-W6KFW, Bud-WA6VPP, Kenan-N6CCE, Lee Evans, Tom- K6CCD, and Bob-AF6C.

The 15M 5-element beam is just about ready to set-up.  L-R are Mike-WK6O, Bob-AF6C,  Kenan-N6CCE,  Bud-WA6VPP, Tom- K6CCD,  Chris-W6KFW,  and Lee Evans.  The OCARC microwave antennas....errr...State of California - Office of Emergency Services microwave tower can be seen in the right background.

The next antenna to go up on Friday afternoon was the 80M dipole.  Frank Smith WA6VKZ donated several 40-foot military push-up masts to the OCARC.  L-R are Chris-W6KFW , Mike-WK6O, Kenan-N6CCE,  Bob-AF6C,  and Bob-WB6IXN.

The 20M beam was the last antenna to be set-up on Friday afternoon, close to the EOC building. L-R are Lee Evans,  Tom-K6CCD, and Bob-AF6C.
