W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Clem W0MEC Westminster, Phil K6PAD Huntington Beach, and Vijay KM6IZO Irvine. Clem reads Net Control at 5-7 to 5-8, but has a lot of local static. He was in Minnesota last week. Clem asks about the Park Board Meeting and contest in Irvine on October 6th. Corey reports the location, Jeffrey Open Space Park, and time, at 8am on the 6th. Phil reads Clem at 10dB over s9, and Net Control at 4-4, s5 to s6, and Vijay at s4. He is running 100W into a beam aimed at Vijay. Vijay reads Clem well, Phil weak but readable, and Net Control fine business. He is bottling a Kombucha Ale, and welcomes for a try. Vijay has an Oktoberfest Lager planned, and asks about replacing an analog thermostat with a digital one in his refrigerator. Corey has worked with peltier coolers but not thermostats. W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Vijay KM6IZO Irvine, Clem W0MEC Westminster, Rodger N6GMT, Phil K6PAD Huntington Beach, and Bob WB6IXN Santa Ana. Corey is having transmitter problems, and switches to his alternate rig. Vijay doesn’t come back the first round. Phil relays that Vijay doesn’t read Corey. On the next round Vijay reports Phil at his best, Rodger scratchy but improving, but cannot hear Clem. Vijay receives Bob and Net Control loud and clear. There is a 250,000 mile planetary flyby of a skull-shaped asteroid shortly after Halloween, says Vijay. In 2017 it was closer. Rodger hears Clem, but not Net Control, so Clem relays. On the second round, Clem reports Net Control as s7 to s8 solid copy, can hear Vijay, Phil and Rodger strong. Rodger is running 50W. He made his first satellite contact on VHF-UHF FM about a week ago. His antenna projects are flourishing. Phil reads Clem at s10, Rodger well, and Vijay at s10. Corey comes back to his main rig, while Phil reports Clem is 5-9, Corey at s10, then low volume but full power, Rodger at s10, and Vijay at s10. Corey comes back with beautiful signals, says Phil. Phil contacted Slovenia and Italy on 20m this afternoon. On 10M, he is doing well with a Yaesu MD-200 Mic into an FT-DX1200 with equalizers set up according to a good web article. Bob hears all the OPs 5-9. He reports no rain at the QTH. Bob was listening on 15m and 20m this afternoon and heard some distant OPs. Corey tells of his mobile rig improvements. He installed two more PowerWerx PD-4 PowerPole Strips inside the truck console with his new right-angle drill. Corey YHX reads each at s5-s6, s5-s6, s3-s4, s8, and Full-Quieting, respectively. Clem receives Net Control at 5-9, Gene and Sam at a good 5-9, Phil at 20dB over s9, and Vijay just barely. Clem is recuperating from his trip to Minnesota. Gene receives all nice and clearly. He is working on putting tires onto 6-inch rims for a small tractor to operate a wood chipper. Sam is having some trouble reading Net Control, so Clem relays. Corey has difficult copy on Sam as well. Sam is working on clearing out some old ham equipment. Phil can’t hear Corey, either, so Clem relays. Phil is doing some electrical work at the ham shack. He is transmitting 300-400W into an inverted-v. Phil reports of another satellite rocket launch from Vandenberg AFB. Vijay is running 100W with a TenTec Jupiter. He reports of a drop in the stock market and tells of a co-worker making $5,000 in one week on a web site. Vijay made a Kombucha Ale, and will try a pumpkin spice brew next. All stations have great signals tonight, says Vijay. Corey reads each at s5.9, s7.8, s4.2, s4.4, and s7.3, respectively. QRT 19:50 PDT.

Clem has Net Control at a clear s9, Gene and Phil well, good signals from Vijay and Erick. He is getting things ready for the Club Auction this Friday. Gene has N.C., Clem, Phil, Vijay, Bob, and Erick with good signals. Phil receives N.C., Clem, and Gene at s10, Vijay at s7, Bob s10, Erick s6, and Sam at s10. Phil put the ham shack on two dedicated circuits from the breaker panel. There was a Rocket Launch from Vandenberg AFB on Sunday. A new booster was tested, landing back where it was launched from, says Phil. There was a 2.6% drop in the DJA today, reports Vijay. He has a new Kombucha Ale he brewed, and plans a Pumpkin Spice Kombucha for the Halloween Block Party. Vijay reports the Echolink Node is down. Vijay found ARERT for Hurricane Michael on the internet. Bob spent the afternoon pulling weeds in the garden. He has been listening to CW, and is getting up to speed on his Morse Code for 40m. Bob has 2 to 3 years of QSTs to give away. Erick drove 100ft+ in elevation up a hill in Whittier to reach the Net, and Corey reads him full-copy. He is operating 5W with a Baofeng HT. Bob is having trouble reading him. Sam has N.C. weak but readable, and the other OPs readable. Greg has his tri-beam down for use on Field Day, and redid his antennas with his 2M up 45ft. The weather is getting cooler; the nights are really nice, Greg says. Wednesdays he drives his grandson from Tae-Kwon-Do, so he can’t make the 10M Nets. Clem is full-quieting to Erick with his 60W Amp, and Clem copies Erick at 5-7. Steve in Cypress says hello to Erick CKK, his co-worker. Erick signs-off with 73s. Corey reads each at s7, F.Q., F.Q., s5, F.Q., s4, s5, F.Q., and s5-s6, respectively. QRT 21:01 PDT.

W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Greg W6ATB Orange, Gene KJ6OML Garden Grove, and Sam W6JTT Garden Grove. Greg checks-in and signs clear to take his grandson home from Tae-Kwon-Do. He checks his frequency before he goes. Gene listened to the Solar Flare Report on HamNation. It was a forecast for weak activity this week. Sam started at s2.3 to Net Control, then switches to his 40m dipole. Corey copies at s3.4. Corey reads each at 10dB over s9, s7.7, and s3.4, respectively. QRT 19:38 PDT.

W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Greg W6ATB Orange, Gene KJ6OML Garden Grove, Galel KD6AYP Costa Mesa, Sam W6JTT Garden Grove, Terrence AI6ZV Costa Mesa, Phil K6PAD Garden Grove, and Steve KK6REB Cypress. Greg has a new antenna scheme. He has an off-center fed dipole for 80m, 40m, 20m, and 10m, an omni for VHF/UHF, and an MFJ Loop for HF receive. Galel is a new member, and might make it to the November General Meeting, but not the one coming up this month. Sam has some WWII Army field radio gear. Corey refers him to Tim G., our Club President for auction item guidelines. Terrence has a 40m indoor horizontal-loop antenna, with a 9:1 balun. Steve tells of his harmonics and water polo. Corey reads the check-ins at F.Q., F.Q., s5, s5-s6, s7, s8, and readable, respectively. QRT 20:53 PDT.

W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Greg W6ATB Orange at 17dB over s9. Greg receives Net Control at an s10. He fades a bit on his first transmission due to his amp and tuning, but comes back strong. He is receiving on his loop antenna, and transmitting on his off-center-fed dipole. Corey is running an 80/40m dipole with an NVIS director wire underneath. Greg and Corey talk about their 2019 board positions for a while, then sign clear. QRT 21:20 PDT.

W6ZE/KE6YHX Corey checks in Clem W0MEC Westminster, Vijay KM6IZO Irvine, Greg W6ATB Orange, Sam W6JTT Garden Grove, and Gene KJ6OML Garden Grove. Clem reads Net Control at 5-7, but cannot hear Vijay or Greg. On the second go-round, Clem reads Net Control at s7, Sam is strong, and Gene at s9. Vijay is on his new Kenwood TS-450S. He reads Clem at s7, and Net Control at s8 with his new s-meter. Vijay is drifting in frequency on the second go-round, and tries adjusting. Greg is running 400W into an off-center-fed dipole. He hears Clem weak, Vijay at s4-s5, Net Control at 20+dB over s9, but can’t hear Sam. Greg signs clear to pick up his grandson from Tae-Kwon-Do. Clem relays for Sam, Net Control can’t hear him at all. Clem reads him at 10dB over s9, and Sam can only hear Clem. Sam switches to a vertical antenna, and now Corey can hear him, but barely. Clem and Vijay fade out around 19:45. The noise floor went up, covering their signals. Gene stays strong. Gene hears Sam nice and clear after he switched antennas, at an s7, Clem at s9, and Net Control at an s9. Corey YHX reads the check-ins at s5.6, s5.1, 12dB over s9, s3.3, and s7.7, respectively. Clem, Sam, and Gene come in clearly to Net Control. Terrence tried some 20m DX with Ducie Island, Arnie N6HC’s DXPedition VP6D. He has a Yaesu FTDX3000 into a cobweb antenna. Jeff is on Echolink, and has been having power supply problems. Bob has been watching the Dodgers game, and is getting back to CW. Vijay has a new block party brew, a pumpkin-spice Kombucha. Corey YHX reads each at s6-s7, s6, F.Q., s7, s5-s6, F.Q., and s3, respectively. QRT 20:41 PDT.

W6ZE/W0MEC Clem checks in Sam W6JTT Garden Grove, Gene KJ6OML Garden Grove, Tim N6GP Tustin, and Vijay KM6IZO Irvine. Sam had some trick-or-treaters, and will talk on the 2M Net. Gene has difficult copy on Vijay, but will see us at the Club Breakfast and Board Meeting this Saturday. Tim reports on Arnie’s group DXPedition to Ducie Island VP6D. They had to leave a day early due to inclement weather. Vijay has no copy on Net Control, and vice-versa, so Tim relays. Vijay says Happy Halloween. Clem reads each at 40dB over s9, 10dB over s9, s7, and No Copy, respectively. QRT 19:39 PDT.

W6ZE/W0MEC Clem checks in Sam W6JTT Garden Grove, Gene KJ6OML Garden Grove, Vijay KM6IZO Irvine, and Jack N6FTW Lake Elsinore. There is some QRM at the start of the net, but they switch off-frequency at 20:36. Sam Reads Net Control at 20+dB over s9. He and XYL have many trick-or-treaters tonight, and signs off with Happy Halloween. Gene is receiving everyone clearly, Vijay at s2, but strong, and Sam clearly. Vijay had a Halloween Block Party in his neighborhood. He also got a new stove. Clem receives Jack in Lake Elsinore, but Vijay has difficult copy on him. (Dick KD6RUP tries to check in starting at 20:32 from Irvine, but Clem has no copy. Dick tries to check in a few more times, but none can relay.) Clem reads each at 20dB over s9, full copy, s3-s4 but strong, and barely readable, respectively. QRT 20:45 PDT.
