Net W6ZE/W6HHC checked in KE6YHX, WB9YCJ, NI6E, WB6IXN, K6DNR, and AF6C. YHX gave sig reports for all OPs, and Corey will be
sporting a new laptop 1400CX computer! YCJ,
experiencing a cable Internet blackout, just go back from the Chicago area where he
attended a Hamfest. HHC said the Countywide
RACES exercise last weekend went well, wid COAR participating wid successful DATV from the
Santiago Cnyn Road/Cannon Road area back to the OPD! IXN
checked in wid clean teeth after a visit to the dentist, and NI6E, perched on Signal Peak
near Newport Beach, was working the 432 Sprint split
432.10 USB, and
446.0 FM. DNR inquired about the upcoming Club
Auction on Oct. 15. AF6C will air ARRL Audio News on the 2m Net
And Bob &
PFA will be off to the Braile Institute to repair Audio Book machines tomorrow.

AF6C. GMU & CF checked out the upcoming Club Portable in the Park Event site
saying it was A-OK! HHC repeated
NI6Es frequencies for the 432 MHz Sprint Exercise, and Ken reported on the
successful DATV communications to the OPD during the Countywide RACES Event over last
weekend. YHX is still waiting for parts for the seismometer project. IXN reported that the frequency variation in the
San Sevaine signal varies with his heartbeat! UZE
checked in and then kicked back to watch Jesus Christ Superstar. VDP went to the Antique Radio Club meeting in Fullerton
last weekend, gave NI6E another 432 Sprint contact, and Larry will attend the
Club Auction. AF6C, busy during the 10m Net,
passed NC duties to HHC
Then Bob prepared the ARRL Audio News Podcast for Sept. 30,
2010, which he aired on 2m at 20:57 hrs
The Digital Communication Conference on Sept.
24, 25, and 26 was well covered, including Software Designed Radio, also Team USA at the
ARDF worldwide competition. ARRL Audio News

Net W6ZE/AF6C checked in W6HHC, K6CCD, KE6YHX, and WB6IXN. HHC said there will be a reel-to-reel tape recorder
on auction at Friday Club meeting, and Ken said some more Baker-to-Vegas pix are up on the
website
After announcing that he will be attending his high school reunion in Mckees
Rocks, PA, Ken reminded OPs to get ready for the Portable in the Park Club
event on Nov. 6. YHX said IXNs sigs were
weak tonite, but gave 5/9 sig reports to other OPs. CCD
got back from an enjoyable trip to Japan with over 1400 pictures!...and Tom worked Tahiti
on 28400 MHz tonite! IXN mentioned continuing
seismic activity in both northern & southern CA. AF6C plans to attend the
Club Halloween Party at Dan and Christins QTH on Oct. 30
And Bobs 7 year
old computer crashed, so we will not air the ARRL Audio News on the 2m Net tonite

Net W6ZE/WB6IXN checked in KE6YHX, AF6C, and W6HHC. YHX & IXN discussed two quiet spots on the San
Andreas Fault near the Grapevine area, and Corey got a double A battery holder
for use in the analogue circuits seismometer. AF6C
put a new battery in the auto, and Bob is using the old EICOM rig tonite. Ken & Robbie relax a little after the TAPR DCC
presentation. and HHC is now helping the TAPR Webmaster organize papers, abstracts, etc.,
on the TAPR website. IXN will bring an old
MX-80 printer, with manual to the club Auction.

the Club Auction, and told OPs the new Kenwood TS-590 rig fer abt $1799. IXN got the Bearcat Scanner working that he picked
up at the auction, and Bob told OPs abt a new carbon material, graphene, that may soon
appear in our rigs! AF6C got the old hard
druve up & running, pulled weeds, and will complete thinning the Bird-of-Paradise
plsnt. UX wonders if graphene bicycle frames
may appear on the market soon, and Jeff continues to bike ride even in the rain! YHX, wid strong sigs, wondered if graphene is
anything like diamond, and, Corey reminded OPs abt the earthquake drill tomorrow morning.

K6FKV, and W6HTW. VDP, wid bad rain yesterday,
found 10, 12, and 15m open, so Larry worked Cuba on 12m CW!
UX, wid thunder & lightning & rain in Irvine, has bicycled in the
rain 3 or 4 times!...And Jeff told OPs that painted lines in roadways are especially
slippery when riding in the rain! YHX will set
his seismometer to oscillate during strong earthquakes, and Cory checked in wid strong
sigs using 10W tonite. IXN failed AF6Cs
test for best conducting metals (Ag, Au, Cu, and Al), and Bob will air ARRL Audio News at
Nets end
A vy successful Auction kept HHC & AF6C busy till almost midnite
last Fri. eve! FKV, in Simi Valley, flew
in and flew out, and HTW, in La Habra Heights, saw beautiful displays of lightning
during the past storms! HEU had strong sigs at
NCs QTH,as we welcomed Dave to the Net. AF6C
then aired the Oct 14 ARRL Audio News at 21:00 hrs local time
OPs played a crucial
role wid emergency & welfare traffic during the 69 day underground ordeal of the
Chilean trapped miners!...The JOTA International Scouting Event (Jamboree On The Air) took
place Oct. 15-17

Net AF6C/W6ZE checked in WB6IXN, W6HHC, and NI6E(Peter). The Giants were on their way to winning the 1st
game of the World Series, and IXN had previously replaced an errant flapper in brother Lees
toilet. HHC returned from an enjoyable 50th
Highschool Class Reunion in Pittsburgh, PA., where Ken took in a Pitt Panther football
game as a sidelight!...(Both Pitt & Penn State won their games!) AF6C, a guest of the Braille Institute in LA,
learned about new Book Machines and Bob viewed the new Service Manule. NI6E checked in on an inverted V ant. but was down
in the QRN at HHCs QTH. HHC & IXN
briefly remembered buildings gone now at Old Pitt!

CF is preparing for the upcoming OCARC FD in the Park on Nov 6! CF & HHC briefly discussed a meeting wid the
Santa Ana ARES Team before a joint meeting wid COAR. IXN
says that , Skip, Ken, & Bob, shud all receive kudos from the Club on a GREAT
AUCTION!...HHC said the Club treasury received 600+ dollars profit! HHC reported
that Pitt has now consumed most of the Oakland area! HEU,
near the Valley View/22 fwy, checkd in using Motorola/Spectra equipment tonite! AF6C checked in at nets end, and, after a
busy day at the attorneys working on inheritance topics, everything else had to wait! We will have ARRL Audio News next week.
